Choose a conversation.
Pick a side. Join in.
Listen. Speak. Challenge ideas. Hear the other side.
What is a Yabber?
A Yabber is a live conversation built around a question with two sides.
Before entering, you choose the side that best represents your position. That helps create a conversation where people with different points of view can hear and respond to one another.
Choosing a side doesn't mean you're locked into that opinion forever. You came to talk. You came to listen. You might even change your mind.
Should cities ban cars from downtown areas?
Reduce congestion, noise, and pollution downtown.
People and businesses still need convenient vehicle access.
Illustrative example of a Yabber.
Listen or speak.
You decide how you want to be part of the conversation.
You don't have to take the podium to take part.
Listen to both sides, follow the conversation, and react to the people who are speaking.
Have something to say? Volunteer.
When a community podium position becomes available, Yabberly randomly selects someone from the participants who volunteered to speak.
Want to speak? Put your hand up.
Community speakers are chosen from the people who have volunteered to speak.
Regular Yabbers and Sponsored Yabbers
The conversation works much the same way in both. The difference is who is supporting the discussion and whether invited Sponsored Speakers are participating.
Regular Yabber
A live discussion around a question people want to talk about.
Participants choose a side, listen, volunteer to speak, and participate under Yabberly's community rules.
Sponsored Yabber
A Yabber supported by an organization, foundation, company, individual, or other sponsor that wants to encourage discussion around a particular topic.
Sponsorship is clearly identified. The sponsor does not receive information about which Yabbers you visit, which side you choose, how you react to speakers, or your activity elsewhere on Yabberly.
Expert voices. Community voices.
Both belong on the podium.
Sponsors may invite subject-matter experts, people with direct experience, representatives of the sponsoring organization, or people invited to present a particular point of view.
Debate alongside them.
Community speakers can question, challenge, agree with, disagree with, and debate directly alongside Sponsored Speakers.
A Sponsored Yabber is still a Yabber.
Hear knowledgeable voices from both sides.
Whenever appropriate, sponsors are encouraged to invite knowledgeable Sponsored Speakers representing different sides of the question.
Sponsored Speakers are clearly identified and are not removed from the podium by audience vote. They may also have limited moderation responsibilities within a Sponsored Yabber.
Sponsored doesn't mean targeted.
Sponsors support topics and conversations, not individual user profiles.
Based on the topic
If advertising appears in a Yabber about electric vehicles, the advertising might also relate to electric vehicles.

Not based on you
We don't track your participation and then use it to decide what advertising should follow you.

No algorithm choosing your worldview.
Yabberly isn't designed to keep feeding you more of what an algorithm thinks will keep you clicking.
